Russell Heeter
My name is Russell, born and raised in Minnesota. Grew up youngest of 5 kids in a adventurous family. Played 3 sports, but also loved creating images on old cameras. We have endless family stories packing up the old conversion van and literally heading to the mountains for ski races, family trips and crazy hiking adventures. Light has always had a place in my heart. As a kid, my father wired up my 4th birthday cake full of light bulbs powered by a RC remote car battery under the table that I didn’t see… As a toddler I would point and tell everyone in the local Ace Hardware store if their lights didn’t match color or if a bulb was out. Looking back I have always craved connection and telling stories using light and emotion. Capturing stills and motion were going to be a large part of my life, I just didn’t know it quite how it would all go until you try. It was until an art professor at Florence University of the Arts along with an art director locally here in the Twin Cities convinced me that I should pursue a career in photo and video.
I am a photographer that focuses on creating images with brand’s, agencies, and directly with clients. Planning, teamwork and execution are the big 3. Being raised as a kid on 10 acres out in the country and near water has inspired my passion for outdoor motorsports, things that move, and brands that compete. This has led my eye and my heart in a lot of my direction and work. Athletics has always been a big part of my life too. I love when everyone works together for a single goal and can celebrate the wins large or small.
Since 2013 have had a privilege of working with a wide range of brands, production companies and agencies. With over 13 years of experience on many different sets, working with different creative directors, and agencies, I have loved creating true genuine images that make you feel alive. Im a proud husband, a father of 3 boys, and we have a golden retriever, so when Im not shooting, were livin!
